Take a Sip of Madhattan & IceRocks New ‘Brown Water Bible’ Project

Downtown NYC rhyme-rep, Madhattan has dropped a new project today.  Brown Water Bible is fully produced by IceRocks (Meyhem Lauren, XP The Marxman) and features appearances by Benny The Butcher, ElCamino, Fastlife NYC, Rome Streetz, Supreme Cerebral and XP The Marxman.  Somber, cinematic and as solid as the asphalt under Madhattan’s feet, this is a project perfect for boom-bap fiends.

A video for the first single “Stop & Frisk” ft. Rome Streetz has already dropped (link below) and should give you an example of the caliber to expect.

Speaking on the link-up with Icerocks, Madhattan commented “I first met him so long ago that my memories are really vague of that point.   However I took a few years off music and when I returned I hit him up about doing a project together.  He curved that idea I guess because he didn’t know how serious I was but he played me a bunch of beats. One of them that I wanted he said was for Benny, I vowed right there I was going to get on that joint with Benny and hit him up via IG. He came through the studio the next day and we laid that track out.  We titled the joint “Friday The 13th” because that’s when we recorded it and Ice saw that I was serious about my work ethic.  From there I was at Ice’s studio non-stop and before you knew it we had an album done.”

Speaking on the album title the emcee shared “in my circle we call Cognac, ‘brown water’ and that’s my drink of choice, especially in the studio.  I was playing the project for my boy iSaidyo (aka Flaco) and the first thing he said to me was ‘this shit sound like straight brown water bible verses’ and the rest is history.”  Flaco also appears on the album’s opening track to drop some wisdom.

In addition to this project it’s been a productive year for Madhattan who has already released two solo projects including San Gennaro and Repercussions, a joint EP with Harlem emcee G4Jag, The 6th Manand is readying a joint project with FastlifeNYC. He was also featured on Top Shelf Premium’s Off Top Season 4 video series. Check for forthcoming news around Brown Water Bible at the IG addresses below.
