Recognize Ali Releases ‘I Self Lord And Master (I.S.L.A.M.)’ Album

Recognize Ali has been dropping back to back musical content this year. Dope production and ill features and videos. His catalogue is vast and thorough. Recently we reviewed his song “Masterbuilders” off his album I Self Lord And Master (I.S.L.A.M.) which drops today! This project seems to be more intimate and personal.

I.S.L.A.M. has 16 powerful tracks featuring hip hop greats such as Shabaam Sahdeeq, Napoleon Da God, King Magnetic, V Zilla, Verbal Kent, El Ay, GQ Nothing Pretty and DJ Eclipse. There is a slew of strong producers on this project. The production team is listed as follows: Tone Spliff, Swab, Alberto, Smellington Piff, Jakk Wonders, B -Sun, D.Mar, Brutal Caesar, Delta Sigma and Alcapella. We have to give credit to the skillful cuts by Tone Spliff and DJ Tray.

Let’s talk about the concept. The cover itself depicting Muslims making Hajj around the Kaaba immediately resonated with me as a Muslim woman. This is a sacred site where a Muslim renews their sense of purpose while displaying their devotion to Allah. Listening to the music I could hear Recognize Ali expressing his gratitude and epiphany of where he is going in life. The songs are beautifully executed with some Islamic references and nuances that have an urban feel hip hop fans of any faith could appreciate. Authentic boom bap with substance.

My favorite songs are “A Night Better Than a Thousand Months”, “Allah Sees Everything”, “Masterbuilders”, “Can of Spaghetti”, “Wishes” and “Imam Thug”. I.S.L.A.M. is a well crafted cohesive body of work with substance and heavy bar delivery from every emcee featured! The project is available now on all digital platforms!
