Hip-Hop lifer Twan Mack returns with new track and visual for his calling card, “A Rap Song” this morning. The track (also produced by Mack) is a minute and a half long mission statement referencing his love of all things Milwaukee and legendary artists. This passion is evident through the video with both live action and animated sequences.
Speaking on the track Mack said “Being based in the heart of the country, ‘Kareem City’ (aka Milwaukee) I’ve been influenced by every regions style of hip-hop, boom bap however remains closest to my heart, based on the lyrical and musical dexterity it allows and encourages.”
Some of these artists referenced in the track include Rakim, MF Doom, Stetsasonic, Steady B and Mantronik. Initially establishing a national presence in the early 90’s, Mack’s resume has included integral work and history with such notables as Stricklin (eMC), Speech of Arrested Development and Def Jef. After a hiatus from hip-hop, Twan Mack’s drive in the last year has been catching co-signs from some worthy artists and outlets.
