Coney Island’s Finest, Torae, Hops Back on the Mic to School the Competition

Torae is probably one of the hardest working men in hip hop right now. A personality on Revolt TV, his own Sirius satellite show “The Tor Guide”, a podcast with his daughter Taylor called “Family Matters”, and he still found time to drop some new heat for the streets.

On his 2016 album, ‘Entitled‘, Torae said that him and producer Praise may need to do a full length project together. Two years later, Torae and Praise emerge with the EP, ‘All Praises Due‘, which is scheduled to hit the streets October 12th.

To get the ball rolling, Torae drops the gritty banger “Take Notes” with a sampled hook from the late great B.I.G‘s “Dead Wrong” track. Torae reminds us that he still gets busy with the bars. When I first heard the beat, I automatically caught the screw face and said, “yeah he’s bout to go in“. Boy was I right. Torae came in swinging on this beat like Mayweather with crazy punchlines like, “take advantage of the mic [Mike Tyson], damn I guess I’m Givens [Robin Givens]” and “the Coney Isle child from no pot to piss in / to six bathrooms still no shit’s given“. Torae gets super cocky with the wordplay. Listen for yourself.
