There’s a lot of talent coming out of Massachusetts, some of you may already be familiar with. A lot of them are from the elite underground scene, rising up and making a name for themselves. East Boston Emcee, Primo Profit has dropped a new video, “Botero Statue”. The video, directed by Juan Pope Lopez, was shot in Medellin, Colombia capturing the gritty reality for what it is, no gimmicks. MichaelAngelo, also from Massachusetts, produced the track, which is featured on the cassette version of his album Commerciante D’Arte, and will also be available as a 7” single with an unreleased B side.
Primo Profit, of Colombian descent, dropped his debut album Locksmith in December 2017. The album featured artists such as Dave East, Conway and Jadakiss. Primo wanted to put a focus on raw, authentic Colombian culture, spitting some serious hard truth about the economic and social challenges in the everyday lives of real people. Primo continues on the grind, working diligently to stay consistent and give us more of that lethal street grime that he provided with his last project.
If you’re not familiar with MichaelAngelo yet, he has worked with some artists you may recognize such as Crimeapple, Rome Streetz, Rigz, and Estee Nack. While he makes a name for himself quietly, his deadly production is on point nonetheless. He produced Estee Nack’s joint “Excellence”, which you can find here, and is also featured on Commerciante D’Arte. If the names Primo Profit and MichaelAngelo are new to you, now is your chance to check them out if you love unforgivingly grimey, filthy Hip Hop in its purest form.
