Duck Down Music Presents “Apartheid” Video By The Late Great Sean Price

3 years ago Hip Hop lost one of the greatest emcees of all time, not to sound cliché.  Many were intimidated by Sean P’s colossal being, but behind that exterior was an overabundance of extraordinary talent, love for his family, respect for his peers, along with endless jokes and pranks.

An independent Hip Hop legend in his own right and member of the collective Boot Camp Clik, Sean touched the lives of everyone around him both in the music industry and personally.  His lengthy catalog of music continues to hold clout and although he is no longer with us in the physical, the barbarian of bars is still stomping on weak rappers and crushing egos.

On August 8th, the third anniversary of P’s passing, Duck Down Music released the official video for “Apartheid” a single off Sean P’s Imperius Rex album, which was released last year and still dominating the charts.  “Apartheid” features Buckshot and Steele of Smif N Wessun and is produced by Crummie Beats.

Those closest to P appear in the video, while his wife Bernadette, daughter Shaun, brother Stuck B, of course brother from another and other half of Heltah Skeltah Rockness Monsta, and Illa Ghee role reverse over P’s voice.  The video is a must for Hip Hop heads; a true testament to New York Hip Hop. The rock-solid delivery exemplifies their unbreakable bonds and resiliency.

“I tear apart God separate head from neck and call it the apartheid” — Sean P

I had the honor of talking with Bernadette who shared the significance of keeping her husband’s legacy alive. She mentioned it not as being a duty but necessary for her family and for the culture of Hip Hop, necessary for her lifetime bond, and necessary for daughter to have more than just memories.  “Mrs. Ruck” goes in just as hard as “Mr. Ruck” and you can find her rocking his music on the most elite stages, events, and festivals! #riP!
