Neek the Exotic is best known for his energy driven verse on Main Source’s hip hop classic “Fakin’ the Funk”. Since then, he has put out some solid hip hop projects. Neek has been working diligently to secure his hip hop legacy. Last year, the Queens native blessed us with his invigorating EP titled Neek the Exotic Experience, which featured hip hop greats like Mr. Cheeks, Craig G, Bumpy Knuckles, and many more!
The Red Mamba is back with another iconic project cleverly titled Hell Up In Queens. This project features hip hop legends such as Large Pro, Bumpy Knuckles, Fredro Starr, and also Fame Feddi, Stoxx and Merc The Big Body Benz. The producers on this project are incredible! Production was provided by Kwame, Q Tip, Kapital and Cooler Ruler Divine. So you know the sound embodies epic hip hop.
The visual concept for the album is simply genius. It’s an artistic depiction of popular black film cover for Hell Up In Harlem with a twist! Neek has an affinity for the old school films, so implementing it in this project was extremely creative. The theme is something a film geek, like myself, can appreciate, all the way to the score reference for the producers, and the witty tagline.
The first single, “Hell Up In Queens”, produced by the legendary Q Tip, which features Stoxx drops today! This joint is a definite banger! The beat is riveting, authentic Boom Bap with a unique vibe. Neek’s powerful cadence and gritty delivery never disappoints. Stoxx compliments the song with his refreshing flow. This year has been a remarkable one for hip hop. You can add this project to your boom bap collection. The official release for Hell Up In Queens album is next month. And it will be available on all digital platforms!
We will have an exclusive interview with Neek the Exotic you don’t want to miss in August! I’ll tell you my favorite joints on the project then. For now, rock out to this!
