RJ Payne is the 60 Second Assassin (Interview)

Weekly Rap Gods had the honor of interviewing Brooklyn Native RJ Payne. He has been taking the internet by storm with his fluid and power-packed 60 second freestyles over classic hip hop beats! When asked what inspired RJ to rap, he responded,

“House Party rap battle scene with Kid N Play. I knew after watching that scene in the movie, that’s what I wanted to do.”

Over the years, he has mastered his craft. RJ attributes his viral success to posing the question to himself, “What are these new rappers doing to gain popularity?” He said,

“I realized I had to bottle up what I do in 60 seconds with original flow and stay consistent with dropping music.”

Dropping This Friday

RJ names his musical influences as Jay-Z, Big Pun, and Sean Price. Recently RJ Payne dropped Ghosts of Sean Price hosted by Bernadette Price. RJ says if he could collaborate with anyone, the legendary Sean P would be that person. Hip Hop veterans have reposted RJ’s dope freestyles with nothing but glowing accolades. Hip Hop legend Lord Jamar will be hosting RJ’s latest mixtape “Murder In Less Than 60 Seconds“, which will be released on December 15th. The mixtape is a compilation of RJ’s usual marker of dropping heat over the hottest Hip Hop instrumentals in sixty-seconds — No features. Just straight bars.

RJ’s blueprint is working in his favor. Weekly Rap Gods asked RJ what he thinks of the current state of Hip Hop. And he replied,

“It’s a gift and a curse because anybody can gain an audience.”

We look forward to RJ Payne gifting us with some more authentic Boom Bap on his latest project. Thank you for giving us this interview.
