The Main Source Is Still “Breaking Atoms”

The Main Source recently came home from their European tour celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their trailblazing debut album “Breaking Atoms“! The legendary hip hop group graced the stages of London, Amsterdam, Denmark, Austria and Japan this fall. Loyal fans overseas went head over heels showing that the Main Source’s music has longevity and a strong presence worldwide that’s unwavering.

The group hailing from Queens, NY consisted of hip hop legends, Large Professor, K-Cut, Sir Scratch and MCMikey D, who later joined the group in place of Large Pro’s absence. Main Source’s hits like “Fakin’ the Funk” featuring Neek The Exotic, “Looking at the Front Door“, “Just Hangin’ Out” and “Live at the BBQ” were instant hits. The song “Live at the BBQ” launched the careers of rapper Akinyele, best known for his hit “Put It in Your Mouth”, and hip hop legend Nas.

A3C Festival recently hosted an exclusive rooftop party at Café Circa Lounge in Atlanta to celebrate Main Source’s 25th Anniversary of “Breaking Atoms”. Hip hop greats like Diamond D, Planet Asia, Rah Digga and Statik Selektah were a few people who came out in support of the legendary group. Large Professor’s DJ set was so dope the crowd sang along to every song. At the close of the event, Large Pro, Neek the Exotic, and Joe Fatal hit us with an impromptu freestyle over the “In the Sun” instrumental that initially featured Q-Tip — released on Large Pro’s “1st Class” album in 2002.

Neek the Exotic dropped his latest project earlier this year, “The Neek the Exotic Experience“, featuring other kings from Queens like Mr. Cheeks, Craig G, and Bumpy Knuckles to name a few.

The fans are certainly looking forward to new music from the Main Source. And the group confirms that they will continue to tour again next year. We at WRG would like to wish the whole crew a Happy 25th Anniversary on their  classic debut album. And thank them for their incomparable contributions to the culture.

Salute to these Rap Gods!
