Boom Bap is stronger than ever, despite opposing viewpoints. We are highlighting a few artists blazing the scene in the name of boom bap. It’s refreshing to hear artists preserving the hip-hop genre with gritty lyrics, prowess, substance, cadence and visuals that reflect the culture. They are truly legends in the making!

First up, we bring you The Boogie Down Bronx’s own Mickey Factz who has proven to be worthy of his accolades as he has triumphantly emerged from the rap battle arena to a successful rap career. Mickey Factz was named as XXL’s Freshman Class ’09, gracing the cover alongside his fellow classmates Blu & Cory Gunz. He also released heavy mix tapes over the years starting with “In Search of the N.E.R.D.”, worked with noted hip-hop artists: Lupe FiascoSmoke DZA, Mack Wilds, and toured with Big Sean. Secondly, we have A.O.T.P.’s (Army of the Pharaohs) own hip-hop giant, standing at 6’9”, King Magnetic from PA. A true lyricist who is best known for his groundbreaking album “Timing Is Everything”. This hip-hop powerhouse recently dropped his latest album “Everything Happens 4 a Reason featuring legendary hip-hop artists, such as Masta Ace, Cappadonna, R.A. the Rugged Man, and features production from none other than 9th Wonder and Khrysis. Not to mention his collaboration with newly signed Roc Nation/Jamla artist Rapsody, who just recently dropped her third studio album, “Laila’s Wisdom”Magnetic is taking the industry by storm, and has blessed us with raw hard-hitting tracks and lyrics that appeal to the boom bap masses worldwide.

Say hello to Journalist 103 who hails from Detroit, MI. He was a member of the crew The Mountain Climbaz, and later became lead artist and co-founder of the hip-hop group The Left, who released one of the dopest hip-hop projects in 2010 titled, “Gas Mask”. Afterwards, Journalist decided to go solo and put out the “Reporting Live LP in 2012 featuring collaborations with Freeway, Saigon, Fashawn, and some of the illest producers, such as Oddisee and Snowgoons. Fast forward to the Journalist’s latest project, “The Battle for the Hearts and Minds”, when he debuted the visuals for the hit track “Evil Eye”, in which he touches on some real life issues; a positive message we need more of in our culture. With dope production from extraordinary hip-hop producer Apollo Brown, Journalist’s style surpasses listeners’ expectations. He keeps blazing the trail in hip-hop steadily solidifying his place as a dope MC!

Lastly, we have Brooklyn’s own Innocent? whose track record is unparalleled. This unsung legend has been putting in major work in hip-hop. He has countless songs and visuals for his projects that will astound you. He offers so much diversity in his music. His lyrical style is witty and charismatic with bars that will blow you away. Innocent? has features with some of the best in hip-hop, such as artists like Rockness Monsta, Royal Flush, Shabaam Sahdeeq, producer Stan da Man, and the legendary Sean Price (R.I.P). He is currently doing shows and working on his latest project “The Reign Vol. 3” featuring Juxx Diamondz, Trife Gunna, Myverse, HerStory, Alpha Faktion, and hip-hop icons Fame of M.O.P. and Tek of Smiff-N-Wessun.
